GFIA will be hosting a seminar on Crypto Risk Management on the 16th February at The Sunborn, Gibraltar.

The session will open with a networking breakfast and then follow to a panel discussion.

The session is designed towards those with an interest of fund governance and could be of great interest to those who are EIF Directors but is open to our whole membership who feel they can benefit from learning about risk management in the crypto world,which is very different to risk management in traditional assets, markets and trading.

The panellists confirmed so far are :

Alon Goll

Prycto - Co-founder

Alon has been involved with Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies since 2012, an ambassador in the Israeli Bitcoin embassy, founder of Bitcoin Academy, which is an online education platform that instructed thousands of individuals and organizations on the right methodologies for holding and using cryptocurrencies since 2015.

 In 2017, Alon started Prycto, which was the first automated market maker in the DeFi space; Starting as the first reserve on Kyber network, one of the first order book based DEXs, and then cooperated with many of the leading DeFi projects, including MakerDAO, dYdX and 0x to name a few.

Prycto is a market maker that specializes in providing transparency and tracking tools for projects to measure their tokens’ liquidity.

Mikko Ohtamaa

Trading Strategy - CEO and co-founder

Mikko is the CEO and co-founder of Trading Strategy, an algorithmic trading solution for decentralised finance.  Over the past decade, he has been acting as the CTO of a host of companies, both in Europe and the US. Mikko was co-founder of TokenMarket – a blockchain fundraising platform that helped to raise over $350 million for its clients. In the early crypto years, Mikko was the CTO of LocalBitcoins, a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange. 

Mikko is one of the first Ethereum smart contract auditors and developers. He has also worked with various other blockchains including Bitcoin, NEAR, Cosmos and Solana. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Mikko did a career in Python and open source development, having 25 years of experience in web, mobile and blockchain development. Mikko holds an MSc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Oulu.

Benjamin Ittah

Hashdex- Head of Sales & Distribution Europe 

Benjamin Ittah is Head of Sales & Distribution Europe at Hashdex with responsibility for building Hasdex’ European activity including client coverage and strategic business development. Prior to Hashdex, Benjamin was responsible for France, Benelux and Geneva client coverage and business development at Tabula, a London based independent asset manager and ETF provider focused on fixed income, which he joined when it was founded in 2018. As a founding employee he was one of the top drivers of the success of the company, helping to build it into a recognised specialist ETF business in Europe with close to US$1 billion AuM in 2022. Post graduate, Benjamin started his career at Société Générale where he covered EMEA clients for cross-asset listed ETPs, solutions and ETF sales/trading in London and Paris. Benjamin holds an MSc in Statistical and Financial Engineering from Paris Dauphine University.

Roei Bar Aviv

SpringSoftware Ltd, Gibraltar -CTO and Co-Founder,

an accomplished Chief Technology Officer with over 10 years of experience in software architecture, design, development, testing, and verification.

Philip Vasquez

Digital Asset Management- Chief Legal Officer.

Philip is the Chief Legal Officer & Co-Founder of Gibraltar based digital asset broker/dealer Damex.io. He is also a director of the Damex group's private fund, Bloq Capital, where he has been responsible for the structuring of the fund.

In his role at Damex.io Philip has been responsible for the group’s legal, regulatory obligations, authorisations, facilitating complex transactions and improving overall governance and compliance as the business scales.

Prior to Damex, Philip practised as a lawyer in corporate and commercial matters, including litigation. He also has extensive experience with high-growth fintech companies having assisted various businesses internationally in scaling operations, managing high-value data contracts and other essential matters of compliance.

Alongside his professional efforts, Philip is regularly involved in industry and community efforts. He is presently an executive member of Gibraltar's Association for New Technologies, served a director of the Federation of Small Businesses from 2017-2020, a member of the Gibraltar Bar Council (2016-18) and an organiser of Gibraltar's first Startup Community.

The panellists have been chosen due to their unique role in crypto markets will have lots to say on risk management, each with a different perspective.

The cost of the seminar is £35 members £50 non members.
